Chris Sharma Training

An overview of  the Chris Sharma Training Routine.

It seems like climbers all over the world are aspiring to climb like Chris Sharma and consequently they all want to know how chris sharma is training.  In interviews Chris has said that he campuses occasionaly, like every few years.  The thing is there really is no Chris Sharma training routine.  He simply climbs and climbs a hell of a lot.

Here is what is interesting though would you really need a training routine if you were climbing 5.14 and harder week in and week out?  Or bouldering super hard problems all the time?

Sharma is constantly pushing himself on harder and harder problems all the time.  Routes like Es Pontas 5.15 or Jumbo Love possible 5.15b.  I mean these lines haven’t been repeated.  Granted the guy has genetics on his side but he is out there day in and day out trying his hardest and really pushing his body to the next level.

Not too mention that it doesn’t hurt that he gets to climb with some of the best climbers in the world all the time.  This definitely keeps you motivated and psyched to keep trying hard and going after it.  Most importantly though Chris Sharma is clearly motivated from within just look at his determination that lead him to climbing Realization 5.15.

So here are some training lessons that we can pull from Chris Sharma.

  • Constantly be pushing your limits
  • Climb as much as you possibly can
  • The best training for climbing is climbing
  • Climb on all different types of rock
  • Climb different styles of routes and boulder problems
  • Climb with people who keep you motivated
  • Don’t quit on your projects, put in the hard work and time required

These are just a few things that we can draw from what makes Chris Sharma such a great climber.  Again we also have to take into consideration that Chris has genetics on his side.  Don’t let that stop you though from aspiring you to be the best climber you can.  If you want some help with figuring out how you should be training check out training for rock climbing.
